Your website will usually have three html pages. They are index.html, thanks.html and confirmed.html. Lets see the roles of these three pages.
Index.html is the home page of your website. This is also called a squeeze page. This page is designed in such a way that it captures the visitor name and email address with the help of an autoresponder code.
A squeeze page is a simple HTML code that has a headline and text explaining what the user gets on subscription. The autoresponder form code contains two text fields for name and email address and one submit button. Once the visitor enters his name and email address and clicks on submit these details are saved by your auto responder and the user will be redirected to thank you page. A thank you page is a HTML page where you literally say thanks to the visitor for subscribing and gives him instructions to confirm his subscription. You can tell him to look for an email from you and click on the confirmation link. It is advisable to take a screenshot of one such email and show it on the page.
When the visitor clicks on the confirmation link sent in the email, he literally agrees to receive communication emails from you. Then the autoresponder takes him to the confirmation page where you give him the free gifts.
Now you have all the pages ready to upload to your website. For this purpose you need an FTP software like FileZilla. This software is free and you can download from FileZilla.com
Now open the FileZilla and enter your website name, your control panel user name and password. It will connect to your website file system and show you the files. On the left panel of the software the files are shown from your own computer. On the right side files from your website are shown.
Now on the right side you have to open a folder called ‘public_html’. To open it, just double click on the folder. On the left side browse to the folder where you kept the three HTML pages. Now to upload the files you just need to double click on each file.
Once the files are uploaded you can test them by opening the browser and typing
http://www.yourwebsitename.com – for index.html
http://www.yourwebsitename.com/thanks.html – for thankyou page
http://www.yourwebsitename.com/confirmed.html – for confirmed page.
